300-715 frequently asked questions
What is the 300-715 certification?+
SISE is one of the CCNP Security concentration exams you pair with the SCOR core to earn CCNP Security.
It is deep on a single product, ISE, so success rewards hands-on experience configuring policy sets, profiling, posture, and guest/BYOD flows.
What topics are on the 300-715 exam?+
The SISE exam is organised into seven weighted domains. The percentages below are Cisco’s official blueprint weightings, so bias your study toward the heaviest domain — Policy Enforcement is 25% of the exam.
Architecture and Deployment (10%)
Covers ISE personas and deployment models (standalone, distributed), node roles and sizing, high availability, and zero-touch/automated deployment of ISE nodes into the network.
Policy Enforcement (25%)
The largest domain. Covers 802.1X and MAB, authentication and authorization policy sets, RADIUS, Change of Authorization (CoA), and configuring Cisco TrustSec with Security Group Tags.
Web Auth and Guest Services (15%)
Covers central and local web authentication and guest access — hotspot, self-registered, and sponsored guest portals — and their configuration in ISE.
Profiler (15%)
Covers endpoint profiling: probes (DHCP, RADIUS, SNMP, DNS, NetFlow), profiling policies, logical profiles, and using profiling results in authorization.
BYOD (15%)
Covers the BYOD onboarding flow: native supplicant provisioning, certificate provisioning with the internal CA, the My Devices portal, and BYOD authorization.
Endpoint Compliance (10%)
Covers posture assessment with the Secure Client posture module, posture policies and conditions, remediation, and using CoA to enforce compliance before granting access.
Network Access Device Administration (10%)
Covers device administration with TACACS+: command authorization, device admin policy sets, and controlling administrative access to network devices through ISE.
Is the 300-715 hard?+
SISE is hard because it requires deep, product-specific mastery of ISE: policy sets, profiling, posture, and guest/BYOD flows all interact and must be configured precisely.
The heavy Policy Enforcement weighting rewards hands-on ISE lab experience. Configuring real policy sets and CoA flows is decisive.
How many questions are on the 300-715 exam and how long is it?+
SISE is a 90-minute exam with a mix of multiple-choice and other item types; Cisco does not publish an exact question count. It is a CCNP Security concentration exam.
Our full-length practice mock uses a 90-question, 90-minute session so you can rehearse pacing across all seven domains before test day.
What score do you need to pass the 300-715?+
Cisco does not publish a fixed passing score for SISE; scaled cut scores are not disclosed and vary by exam form, so the 75% threshold on our practice mock is our own study checkpoint rather than an official cutline. Because there is no guessing penalty, answer every question.
How much does the 300-715 exam cost?+
The SISE exam fee is set by Cisco (around US$300) — check the Cisco site for current pricing. The certification is valid for three years. Everything on this hub is free.
Who should take the 300-715?+
SISE is aimed at security engineers and network engineers who deploy Cisco ISE for network access control, pursuing CCNP Security.
Cisco recommends three to five years of security experience, and SCOR-level knowledge, before attempting it.
What jobs and salaries can the 300-715 lead to?+
SISE maps to roles such as network security engineer, identity and access engineer, and NAC specialist.
How much any certification affects pay depends heavily on geography, seniority, and experience, so treat any single salary figure with caution. SISE is best viewed as proof of hands-on Cisco ISE skill.
How long does it take to study for the 300-715?+
Candidates with SCOR-level experience often need one to three months, spent mostly configuring ISE policy sets, profiling, posture, and guest/BYOD in a lab.
Review every explanation, including for questions you answered correctly, because SISE distractors are built from plausible but incorrect ISE configurations. Use the per-domain results here to find your weakest area, then finish with full-length timed mocks.
How should you prepare for the 300-715?+
Study the seven domains above, giving the heaviest weight to Policy Enforcement, then drill scenario questions domain by domain while configuring a real ISE deployment. Every MockAPI question reveals a full explanation and tells you why each wrong answer is wrong.
When you can build policy sets and posture/BYOD flows comfortably, move to full-length timed mocks. Use the glossary to keep concepts like 802.1X, MAB, CoA, TrustSec/SGT, profiler, and posture straight, and aim to score consistently above the checkpoint before you book.
Can you take the 300-715 exam online?+
Yes. Cisco delivers 300-715 SISE through Pearson VUE, so you can test at a physical Pearson VUE centre or online with OnVUE remote proctoring. The online exam requires a private, quiet room, a clear workspace, a webcam and microphone, a stable connection, and government-issued photo ID, with a proctor monitoring you and a room scan before you start.
If you do not pass, Cisco enforces a waiting period of five calendar days before you can retake the same exam.
What certification should you take after the 300-715?+
SISE combined with the SCOR core earns you CCNP Security; from there you can pursue the CCIE Security lab.
For many, the real next step is running network access control in production. Pairing SISE with hands-on ISE operations is what turns the certificate into a career.
